Berea Writers Circle meets the third Saturday of every month from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm at the Madison County Public Library, 319 Chestnut Street, Berea, KY 40403. Programs include workshops, speakers, panels, and discussion on the craft.

Every month on the third Thursday, we co-host Spoken Word at 7:00 pm at the Berea Arts Council gallery at 444 Chestnut Street. Bring a few poems, flash fiction, or a five-minute excerpt to share or lend your ears and enjoy the company of other writers. Bar sales benefit the Berea Arts Council.

Some say “write what you know.”  Others say that is not necessary.  So, our theme for our next meeting is the familiar.   In a different take on the theme of the familiar, we’ll be discussing some ideas about this and we’ll solicit input from our group.  Then, we’ll spend some time writing about some familiar things, like a stain on a piece of furniture or the tracks worn in the grass beneath a swing.  We will also have some time available so those who wish to can share what they have written about the familiar.    We hope you can join us Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Madison County Library at Berea in one of the community rooms from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.  Hope to see you there.
